Kathleen our host was personally responsible for making our trip to Skellig Michael a success. My friend and I from Canada made a last minute decision to try and do a landing tour at Skellig and Kathleen made it happen by contacting boat operators on her own time, on our behalf. A true hostess. Kathleen's property was also ideal for us. This B&B is very clean, with large, bright, and spacious rooms and also offers a few different choices for breakfast including a traditional Irish one. This B&B is also a few steps away from a quiet little beach. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of town from the B&B, which is where the boats to Skellig launch and where the pubs are. It is always a pleasure to walk in rural Ireland, you never know what or who you will encounter! Since the property is not in the centre of town, it is very quiet, there is absolutely no noise from traffic, and you are assured a good night of sleep. Kathleen took personal responsibility for ensuring our entire stay in Port MacGee went smoothly; without her our trip would have been something different entirely. I highly recommend staying here.
What a lovely home, we stayed two nights, its convenient to the boat for Skellig Michael and the hosts are lovely. The room was clean and inviting. The breakfast was great. We got lots of tips on the area and what to see. A terrific place to stay.
Kathleen was marvelous! She went above and beyond to make my stay in Portmagee fantastic. I didn't have a car, so she picked me up at the bar in town when I arrived early and it was raining. She made an excellent breakfast both mornings I was there, and staying there felt like home! She drove me to the dock for my Skellig Michael landing tour, and she made sure I met the right people to get me to my boat. When I didn't have cash to pay her and needed and ATM which Portmagee doesn't have, she arranged it with my taxi driver a friend of hers from Cahersiveen to deliver the envelope of money to her so it was convenient for me! Kathleen is a saint and her home is lovely -- like staying in a hotel but nicer! If I'm ever back in Portmagee, this is where I want to stay!
